what is flagrance?

Fla´gran`cy . The condition or quality of being flagrant; atrocity; heinousness; enormity; excess.

Flagrance is good! Once upon a time Barra and David decided that if we were to create our own fragrance, we would call it 'Flagrance'. The idea being that it would be flagrantly expensive and flagrantly nice smelling. Well, we don't know how to develop, manufacture, and market a fragrance, so we have made a blog instead. Deal with it!

Jumping Jets

This post has nothing to do with Jets. It is however, this site's 100th post. So I'm gonna sit back and enjoy some Flagorice( it's kinda like liquorice but unlike regular liquorice or marmite, everyone likes it).

Anyway, back to the actual post. This is a trailer for the new Hayden Christiansen movie "Jumper", as you can see, its about a teleporter and all the dirty things he can do with his powers. Surprisingly enough, I think it looks Ok. Samuel L. Jackson appears to be the bad guy, but I can already tell that he's the hero of this story, he's the only one trying to stop Christensen from doing anything retarded with his power. Pretty good cast in this movie, as an actor I really like Michael Rooker (the dad in the movie), I can't say the same for liking him as a person, we have a long and bumpy history....me and that guy.
Rachel Bilson is thrown in there as a pretty face and Also Jamie Bell dons a sort of Scottish/Irish accent for the movie. Don't really know why, maybe its to showcase his acting talent of not really getting an accent dead on. oh well

Flagrant Body Art

Ok, body art is just a fancy word for tatoo, but I'm going to use it, so deal with it. I am a Star Wars nerd at heart, and seeing something like this really brings a tear to my eye, thank you anonymous tatoo artist. That is flagrant Fandom at its best.

Get yourself some Justice!

Whats happening my 24 hour party people? I'll tell you what, Justice thats what. This a song called "D.A.N.C.E" by the french electro house group, Justice. They're pretty amazing, so good infact that they are helping me to procrastinate on doing any college work.. oh well. Anyway, this song is good, but they have way better ones like: "One minute to midnight", "Genesis", "Let there be light", "We are your friends" and "Party feat. Uffie".
Just download or "buy" them and thank me later....or don't, (ungrateful plebs)

UPDATE:
Don't forget to check out our friends blog, he's finally put it to use. It used to be under the links bar but we took it down a while ago. If he keeps up the good work, he will get a place in our prestigious links.

An actual recorded case of Flagrance.

This is the new Snoop Dogg song, Sexual Eruption (Sexual Seduction is the censored version. I know that a lot of people wont like this song but I don't care, because I like it, and thats what matters....peasant! Its a bold move from the rap that he usually does and for his efforts I'm going to send him a Blue Peter badge (don't worry snoop, its already in the mail). The video is a great example of 1980's flagrance and thats why I like it even more, although I haven't a clue what the tube is doing in his mouth (much appreciated if someone can tell me its relevance).
Anyway....enjoy!

Stephen Colbert

Since the summer I have been watching Stephen Colbert's TV show "The Colbert Report" on ifilm.com. For those who haven't seen it, it is a parody news programme similar(ish) to The Daily Show with John Stewart. On it, Stephen Colbert (in character)impersonates right wing news personalities like Bill O'Reilly. About a month ago on his show he announced that he would be running in the Presidential Nomination race for both the Democrat and Republican parties - but only in the state of South Carolina (where he's from). A couple weeks later, the Democrats announced they wouldn't be letting him run.

The reason I'm writing about him isn't because his show is so funny (which it is), but because as a result of his announcement, he started doing a lot of TV interviews in character. This brings me to my point: while on his TV show he has writers, the interview situations are off-the-cuff and I love his ability to improvise and keep a straight face. He never gets stuck!

Here is an interview that I really liked on a serious show called "Meet the Press". Even thought Stephen Colbert is in character, the interviewer tries to treat it like an interview with any other political candidate. Its so funny, check it out, there are 2 parts:

The Fog of War

This documentary is called: The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara

I saw this on tv a couple years ago and thought it was really interesting. It is basically a long interview with Robert McNamara who was the U.S. Secretary of Defense during Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. These days a lot of the responsibility and blame for losing the vietnam war is placed on him. I guess this is a rare type of documentary because how often do you get such an indepth first hand account about such a major world event?

I haven't rewatched much of it yet but if I remember rightly, this documentary also has a really good musical score. If you have the time I hope you watch it and enjoy it.

Great quote from the documentary:

*On the fire-bombing of Japanese cities towards the end of WW2*
"[Airforce General Curtis] LeMay said if we'd lost the war, we'd all have been prosecuted as war criminals. And I think he's right! He, and I'd say, I, were behaving as war criminals.

LeMay recognised that what he was doing would be thought immoral if his side had lost, but what makes it immoral if you lose and not immoral if you win?"

Flight of the Conchords

I've been meaning to make a post about Flight of the Conchords for ages. They are 2 music playing comedians from New Zealand. Last year they were given their own show on U.S. TV which I watched while we were in Canada. After the first few episodes it went a bit downhill but there were some really funny songs in the first few episodes, check them out:

This is the very first song in the first episode and still the greatest:

You're So Beautiful

I've picked a live version of this song because on the TV show they cut too much funny stuff out of it:

It Puts the Lotion in the Basket.

This is a brilliant song and video by the "Greenskeepers". I don't really have any worthwhile info on them but if you have seen Silence of the Lambs then you will probably understand it a whole lot better.

Flagrant Females pt.2

I know that there are dozens of clips where cheerleaders get trampled by football players. It happens so often infact that it's almost like the players are out to get them, and this clip is no different, however, we do get to see it from the cheerleaders point of view this time. She's a homecoming queen named Cali (who happened to be wearing her Tiara at the time/moment of impact and you can see it being taken out of her tangled hair at the end of the clip). Anyway, it's a fairly hilarious video, and i love the editing, they replay it over and over. Stay tuned for more Cheerleading mishaps. :D

Cool Ads

I just saw these cool ads on TV. The first one is narrated by Brick Top from Snatch, he's the coolest guy ever. The second is an extended ad for Sony's Blu Ray. For the Blu Ray ad its worth using some good speakers/ear phones because it sounds amazing.

Flagrant Vancouver

Hey everyone I've uploaded all my pictures from Vancouver 07 to my PicasaWeb account. Check them out!
http://picasaweb.google.com/ishdontthinkso/Canada07

I had an absolutely brilliant time in Vancouver. I didn't take my camera out an awful lot so I'd love to get and upload everybody elses pictures too. One thing I wish I had is some pictures of us zip-lining in Whistler. I have pictures of the live news broadcast where we found out that an Irish girl had fallen at the exact same zip lining place the very next day after we were there. I'd also like to have more pictures of our second house. Anyway I hope you guys enjoy these - sorry to those of you who hate pictures of buildings and places! If you want me to upload your pictures will you leave me a comment and we'll try sort it out.

Also, heres a video from the bus to Whistler:

I'm so pumped

I arrived back in Ireland yesterday after a long flight. Last night I was feeling tired and sleepy. When slovokia scored their last minute equaliser I just yawned and went to bed. But after a good nights sleep I woke up this morning and saw this ad. Now I'm pumped up and ready for the battle of titans that will be Ireland v Namibia!!

Now heres the ad so you can get pumped up too!

*yes I'm aware that this ad may have been running on Irish tv non stop for (possibly) weeks but its my blog so if it feels new to me then thats all that matters!

"So you Wanna be a Boxer?"

This is a clip from the 1976 movie Bugsy Malone. Its a good movie with an entire cast all aged below 17. There is a early performance from Jodie Fosters, she even sings her own song: "My name is Talula". Appearances from Dexter Fletcher (as babyface) and Scott Baio as Bugsy Malone (Baio used to be Charles in "Charles in Charge"). Anyway, this movie spawned an unholy amount of school plays, who knows, perhaps you were in one.

This is one of my favourite songs from the movie, its called
"So you Wanna be a Boxer?" ZING! (you'll understand once you see it)

Harmless Male Chauvinism

These are some clips from "Harry Enfiled and Chums". Theres not much to say about them so just watch and enjoy pushing back womens rights about fifty years. :D

This is my favourite clip. It's longer, but definitley worth it.
"Spunky chaps with their hats at jaunty angles." priceless!

"I am above the law!"

There has been a recent surge in celebrity misdemeanors and flagrant crime this summer. It's getting out of hand, and I just can't handle it. Celebrity crime has been going on for god knows how long now, but Im going to start with the more recent cases because they are starting a trend.

Paris Hilton probably got the ball rolling by her recent stint in jail, and I already know what you tiny mind is thinking, well before it explodes I have to tell you to Stop! Yes she got caught and sent to jail for her string of crimes, but she was somehow able to only serve 3 days of her 45 day prison sentence and was then released. That has to be the most ridiculous judicial system in the world. Thank god there was public uproar and she was thrown back in jail. However, she bypassed the law again by only spending 22 days in jail. What a joke!

"Sort your life out" case number two would be Lindsey Lohan. What a train wreck of a person. Being an alcoholic before shes allowed to legally drink is quite an accomplishment. She is constantly being stung by her cocaine habit, and alcoholic antics (all before her 21st birthday and continuing after it too). This summer she has been arrested twice, first for crashing her car and then fleeing the scene (leaving a "usable amount of cocaine" in the car) and then for harrassing her former assistant by chasing after her under the influence of alcohol, needless to say, Lindsay was caught, and upon searching her, they found cocaine in her pockets, her brilliant reply was "these aren't my pants".
Hilarious as that reply was, it will probably get her off a jail sentance in court. Celebrities are getting special treatment from the law these days. Turning up to films sets hungover/sick fom drink and getting away with it is just another little quirk of celebrity status, we all want this power, and so, some of us emulate it (to our detriment of course).

"Sort you life out" case number three, Nicole Richie faces a jail sentance for driving down the highway the wrong way while under the influence of drugs. However, Richie is now pregnant and is publicly "turning her life around in the right direction", these are both viable get out of jail free cards for celebrities.

The list of "SYLO" cases goes on, but the most worrying thing is that these people are looked up to by tons (probably fat kids) of fans. Its not only actors who fuck up in this way, Models like Kate Moss set just as bad examples. Her polar opposite would be Gisele Bundchen, Gisele is an absolute professional when it comes to her job, even if she did do cocaine, she manages to keep her personal life out of the tabloids, and not by being extra careful, but just by not being a complete REMO (check that word up in the slang dictionary if you want the details). The crimes commited by these celebrities are not lighthearted, "ordinary" people would not get the incredibly lax treatment stowed upon these "stars".

And so, Gisele does her job like a professional, Hopefully Allessandra Ambrosio will follow in her footsteps. Similarly, I hope that new actors and actressess like Shia laBoeuf and Megan Fox dont follow in the mongoloid steps of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton. Somehow, I think that they will have more sense and provide better role models for people to look up to and the Flagrant lawbreakers will be dinosaurs of the past. I didn't need to put in these photos of Gisele and Ambrosio, but who cares.

Flagrant Fox

Well, its been a while old chum, havent really updated the site in ages, so I thought that I might as well write down some of my more recent brain farts. I went to see Transformers recently and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't particularly like Pearl Harbour (directed by Michael Bay), and when Matt Stone and Trey Parker put it into perspective for me, then I Really didn't like the movie. "The End of an Act" song gets it right by saying that Michael Bay had missed the whole point of Pearl harbour by making the first 3 quarters of it a useless romance involving Ben Affleck.

Anyway, the same is not to be said of the new Transformers movies directed by Michael Bay. I think he did a great job. His first right move was casting Megan Fox as the heroine of the movie. Don't be fooled, this post isnt about how much I like Transformers or even the redemption of Michael Bay, it's about Megan Fox.

What a breath of fresh air, she's the new girl in hollywood who gets to star in my wildest fantasies. However, I really really hope that she doesnt turn out like most of the other overexposed girls in hollywood. They end up being Lindsay Lohan duplicates who think they are above the law (see the post above this one). From what I hear, Foxes are supposed to be cunning and clever, and if that tells me anything, then Megan will hopefully work hard and be a professional actress as opposed to a professional waste of life like the others.

Heres a clip from the Movie. She mostly talks jibberish in this clip, but dont let that get you down, what she's really saying can be read by her incredible body language.... with an incredible body as the translator.

Murder on the Dancefloor!

Rapists, thieves, killers and people who didnt pay their taxes have all earned their freedom in this clip. Thats right, these convicts are giving something back to the community.....their giving back dance (if thats possible, not sure whether they stole it or not).
The prisoners of Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines, performed Michael Jackson's Thriller live, and they got it pretty much spot on. They even have a "girl" for this video.

Halo: Arms Race

I just stumbled upon this short film made by WETA (their work is featured in Lord of the Rings,Hellboy and others), it's for the new Halo Movie and I think it looks great, so far they they are achieving a good atmosphere for the movie, but thats not what drew me to it. Its the fact that one of my favourite new directors, Neill Blomkamp, is attatched to this project. Heres a 6 minute short movie that he has made called Alive in Joburg. Blomkamp was a CG animator who decided to try directing, and because he has such an extensive knowledge of CG effects, he is able to blend them into his movies without people even noticing. I'm not going to walk you though it, just watch it and enjoy.

So my expectations are high for Halo. I'm not sure what David has to say about this, he's in Canada at the moment but he must be living in some kind of early nineties timewarp where the Internet isnt so accessable.

Gears of War Leaked

I'm not too sure whats going on with this video, but what I do know is that everyone else is just as clueless as I am. There are different explanations of what this video is exactly. Apparently this is a trailer that was supposed to be shown at E3 this year but got leaked early by Gametrailers.com, (some people are saying that Gamestop, thats right, the shop leaked it, but Gametrailers seems more likely).

Some people are saying that this is the PC verison of Gears of War that will be released in a bit, others say thats impossible coz the trailer involves the A and X buttons from the Xbox. It may even be clips for Gears of War 2, or more likely, downloadable new levels. Anyway, I'm sure that Gametrailers are in big trouble for leaking the content too soon, announcing something at E3 is supposed to be a big deal, so the people at Gametrailers pulled a massive boner on that one.

Ten Titilating Games for '07

Long time no see, Me and David have been very busy, but we hope to bring things back up to speed.
And so, heres a Top Ten games list made by the people at GameTrailers.com. I think its a good list and the top two definitely deverve their positions.
Makes me wonder though, how much money will I have to spend to upgrade my computer just to run the game. Free money would be the perfect solution right now.
Are there any games that they may have left out? Well ok, theres a bunch but I want your opinions.

I think the Youtube version of this clip is kinda dark, so heres a better quality version at SpikedHumour. Enjoy

Political Misconceptions

Here are some:

"The Progressive Democrats are a right wing party. Mary Harney ruined the health service."

This is just wrong. There is a difference between being pro-capitalist and being conservative. The PD's are LIBERAL. They are the only party with the balls to tackle controversial issues such as inefficient Work Unions. Mary Harney has introduced more reform into the health service than any other Minister. She wants the health service to be for the people who use it, not for the employees who work in it. That is why she is fighting both the nurses and the consultants at the same time. What other politician has the balls Mary Harney has? She is the greatest politician in Ireland because she sticks to her convictions and she works hard to achieve them. No-one else even comes close to her.

"The Labour Party are the party of 'the common man'"

I think the labour party are hypocrites. They play this card that they are the true left wing party of Ireland, that they will look after the poor but at the end of the day the Labour Party is controlled by the trade unions. If push comes to shove the Labour Party will look after the unions instead of the public. These days, there are often examples of where there is conflict between the national interest and the interest of the members in a trade union.

Take the ESB for example. Ireland has the highest electricity costs in Europe, this hits the poorest in society hardest. To solve this, competition needs to be introduced. Basically, for this to technically happen, the ownership of the physical electricity network needs to be removed from the ESB. However, the employees in the ESB don't want this because the value of the stock they have in the company will fall if they lose ownership of the network.

So, on which side of the argument did the Labour Party stand? For the poor in society or the vested interest in the ESB? For the ESB unions of course! 'nuff said!

"Sinn Fein are an up-and-coming party"

Half the people who vote for Sinn Fein are IRA-lovers and the other half are too uneducated to know any better. And when it comes to economic policies they are a laughing stock. They basically haven't bothered with any.

Bertie is back :(

As I made a pre-election post about who I was going to vote for, I guess it's only right to write about the general election again. At this point, Fianna Fail are in the strongest position and may form a coalition with the PD's + Independents, or with the greens.

I was away during the election results and when I got back I was pretty suprised by what the media was saying. The media were making it sound as if Fianna Fail had walked the election and that Bertie Ahern was a genius after all. Any rational person who looks at the figures will see that Fianna Fail lost seats, Fine Gael made the biggest gains in Irish election history, and were it not for the disappointing performance of the Labour Party the alternative coalition would definitely be able to form the new government. Enda Kenny did brilliantly and its a real shame that this is not being commonly acknowledged.

Here's my thoughts on Fianna Fail and their result:

If you voted for these absolute dickheads then shame on you. You are now officially not allowed to complain about anything for the next 5 years. You voted for mediocrity, for wastage. You voted for bland, sit on the fence politics. You obviously think its ok that:

- election promises don't need to be fulfilled (2002 menifesto said metro would be completed by 2007. They havent started building it)
- our environment can be destroyed as long as Dick Roche gives permission
- that profit-driven developers, rather than urban planners, should decide where new houses should be built, with no regard to where schools, roads or clean water are.
- that local councils all over the country are corrupt and under resourced
- that there are serious questions over the personal finances of bertie ahern
- that a valuable natural resource (gas) has been given away for free to shell, and further exploration licences have been issued to them.
- rather than coming up with a realistic manifesto, it's acceptable to just come up with the biggest giveaway manifesto of all time, literally taking every tax cut offered by every other party and bundling them together like some kind of fucking selection box.

Why did the public absolutey slaughter the Progressive Democrats? I presume they were unhappy with the previous government, yet Fianna Fail, holding most of the ministries with by far the largest influence on government policy, received almost none of the blame! All I can figure is that most people are fucking idiots. Which is probably the case unfortunately!

This is just the beginning

He plays on the left, he plays on the right, that boy Ronaldo made England look shite.

Man United finally got the premiership back. It was an amazing season where the old players were in the best form of their careers while the young players really started to deliver. Obviously Ronaldo had a great season but Rooney struggled most of the year before getting his groove back. He finished the season ON FIRE. Premiership winners, FA cup final, Champions League semi-final. It has been a great season.

But this is just the beginning

The secret to United's success has been Ferguson's brilliance in the transfer market. He has not bought a single bad player in the last 3 years. I don't need to list the brilliant players who have arrived. But know this: United have the best batch of players coming out of the youth system since beckham/scholes/nevilles. Most of them have been loaned out for the past 12 months.

Rossi scored 9 goals since January for Parma in their relegation battle in Italy. Defender Pique has been a first team player Real Zaragoza, defender Jonathan Evans from Belfast was first choice at Sunderland last season, and he is an AMAZING defender. Ben Foster on loan at Watford is already Englands no. 2 goalkeeper. Those are the best prospects but there are plenty of others.

But that is not all, Owen Hargreaves will finish his move next week. Tonight, United have announced the double signing of Nani from Sporting Lisbon and Anderson from Porto. These are two of the best young players in Europe!

How all these new players can fit into an already large squad? I don't know. There will definitely be players sold I suppose. What I do know is that United are an unstoppable force about the devour every team in Europe they come across. I'm tired of Milan knocking us out of Champions League

Bring Your Hatemakers

Im actually surprised that David hasn't posted anything about Kimbo Slice, well here's a small clip in which Kimbo is interviewed about his upcoming fight in the MMA, which is basically like the UFC or Pride Fighting.

This is gonna be epic, I definately have high hopes for Kimbo in this new environment. The fight takes place on June 23rd 2007. You heard it here first folks, and don't bother posting any crap comments like "hm well actually I heard something about this ages ago." No you didn't, so stop lying (it's just a deliberate attempt at deviating from the truth).
Don't forget to bring your Hate-Makers and/or Hay-Makers ......whatever that means.

Musical Minchin

This is a clip i saw last night on t.v, I spent the better part of an hour searching for it on youtube coz i didnt catch his name, and then I found it today on College Humor. His name is Tim Minchin, a talented australian with an odd sense of humour . Please excuse the "Al Murray" bit at the start, and just listen to the "Inflatable You" song, my favourite part is "to watch the fute-e-ball" (2.30mins). Don't really bother with the "Canvas Bags" song.
enjoy it..or not....I don't really mind.

Fake iFeud

Steve Jobs has been a fan on The Beatles since he was young, he still adores them today, even though they have been disputing over the name "Apple". Recently, Paul McCartney made a break-through into reconciling with Jobs over their feud, he made a deal with Apple's iTunes which may signal a turning point. All seems well.......but wait......John Lennon's famous widow Yoko Ono isn't happy, and theres no pleasing her.

A blog has been getting a lot of attention from avid Silicon Valley enthusiasts. fakesteve.blogspot.com/ is a site run by....well...a fake Steve Jobs. Known a FSJ, his posts take a funny look at the Silicon Valley Millionaires. He talks about fictitious conversations that he has had with Yoko.

"So Yoko Calls. And she's acting all Zen and saying she's been praying for my soul and she's glad that my Apple and 'the real Apple', as she calls it, have been able to make peace. 'I know this is what John would have wanted,' she says. 'He was all about peace and making peace. Not war. But peace. Yes. That was John's way and so it is mine as well.' "

FSJ says, "You know, if you're so into peace, then why have you been fighting me for 25 friggin' years over the word 'Apple'? It's a friggin' word!"

Apparently, the website has been getting so much attention that the author has signed deals to write books and possible television or film project. FSJ, however, likes to remain anonymous. This is driving a Silicon Valley witch-hunt, people are desperate to find out who he is. Valleywag pointed out that they believe a british journalist Leander Kahney was the illusive FSJ. The blogger is so well informed about Apple and Steve Jobs that some believe it is Steve Jobs himself!
Jobs denies this, but admits that he enjoys the website and its authors commentary.

The Ginger Ronaldinho

Paul McShane has been playing for West Brom in the championship (2nd division) for the last couple of years after being released from the Man Utd youth academy. He is a center back and has done so well at West Brom that he already has a couple of Ireland caps and was just voted the West Broms fans' player of the season. The guy is one of the least graceful players you'll see, which is why I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED!

Pikeys in Nikes

Tonight I was checking out some of the culture of our most beloved "ethnic minority"... Traveller bare-knuckle boxing! In this video theres 10,000 pounds of (stolen!) prize money for the winner. It's not quite Kimbo Slice territory, but its still pretty entertaining.

"Have ya had enough paddy?!" "FINISH HIIIIM!!"

The real reason I'm posting though is to show you guys this funny prank call. It seems to be some guy from a place called Balla (?) phoning "The King of the Pikeys", probably some bare-knuckle boxer. I don't really understand whats going on but anyway, enjoy it.

*EDIT* I know it would be weird, but is that prank caller Ciaran Murphy from Off The Ball on Newstalk 106. Anyone know that guy?

Flagrant Market Domination

AT&T are a phone company in the U.S. which has history going all the way back to the first phone company started by Alexander Graham Bell. AT&T had an almost complete monopoly of the phone network until the latter half of the 20th century when the U.S. government decided to try to introduce competition to the market by breaking AT&T into a number of smaller companies.

Flagrant Filming

Well, we're sorry that there haven't been many posts recently, me and David are currently doing exams, but we should be finished soon. In the meantime, to keep you occupied, here's some porn.......well, sort of.

Good song or my dong?

After shamelessly watching the Eurovision at the weekend, this was the song I would've voted for. It sounds pretty good to me, especially for a Eurovision song, but I can't help but fear my judgement is being clouded by my attraction to the singer. What do you think?

Why I will be voting Green

In Ireland over the last 10 years, the economy has been well run, but our society has not. Now we have the resources to rebalance our priorities. That is why, for me, the main issues in this election need to revolve around improving our quality of life.

Forget global warming. That is certainly not the only reason you should consider the Greens, it just so happens that the factors which damage our environment are also behind the damage to our society, and in the long run, our economy.

Improvements to our quality of life don't have to involve big projects and spending lots of money, sometimes it just means planning for the future, having having the desire to see changes happen. Over the period of the next government, many of us will graduate from college, join the workforce and look at buying a house. Soon, these same quality of life issues will begin to hit us. What are they?

Currently, first time house buyers can only afford to live in satellite towns in Meath, Wicklow and Kildare. Vast amounts of housing estates are being built onto the edges of towns/villages in these areas. While the populations of these towns grows with young families, there has been no associated increase in community services. As a result there are: over-crowded schools, no child care services, inadequate sewage and water systems. Housing often has no footpaths to local village. There are no shops and services near and this creates a reliance on the car, and anti-social problems. Also, no public transport means parents must drive to work, which is often in Dublin. Famously, this creates traffic gridlock, and means parents can spend 4 or 5 hours a day commuting and this is time lost with their families. At the end of the day, this means there is no real community.

Is this the way we should be living our lives? Do you think its acceptable that in 2007 the government is still allowing these mistakes to happen? Imagine life as a kid in your area without any DART or Buses? Why the hell are houses being built in these places, do you think we've run out of space in Dublin?

Rather than spending all our time trying to fix the symptoms of bad planning, why don't we do more to fix it at source, through proper urban planning! We need to stop letting developers decide where houses will be built! This is where the current government has failed miserably.

The Green Party are the only party who I believe would deliver a better Dublin. They propose introducing an new authority to take control of planning. They also are one of the only parties who care about making small changes, like removing cars from our city centre, making it a nicer environment for pedestrians. Small changes lead to big improvements.

Also I feel not enough attention is paid to the greens economic proposals. The greens have by far the most responsible manifesto when it comes to running our economy. They have not been promising everything to everyone. Other parties will reduce income tax, well the Greens will reduce VAT which is one of the most "regressive" taxes around (because it takes no account of peoples ability to pay). The greens say they will actually increase Capital Gains Tax because it is currently lower than income tax, and is a bit of a loophole. It is through methods like this that they can pay for their proposals, unlike other parties who say they will cut taxes and then pay for their policies through unrealistic economic growth predictions.

At the end of the day, I really can't think why anyone would dismiss the Green Party, other than because of ignorant presumptions. I hope others will think about voting for them.

P.S. I also think our local TD Ciaran Cuffe is very good, you can see his youtube page here and his blog here.

Nothing Really Rhymes with 300

I dont know if any of you have noticed, but I do my best to rhyme the titles of my posts. And well, nothing really rhymes with 300, so....that was kind of a failure. Anyway, got majorly sidetracked, but this is a funny clip which demonstrates that theres a little bit of Leonidas in all of us. Go ahead, try it. Just go up to someone and punch them in the face. this lady did, so why dont you?
NOTICE: This site does not condone violence, however, we do love to watch it.

Jumping Gymnasts Batman!

Batman has nothing to do with this post, I merely used him his name to make the title sound cool, if I mislead you I'm sorry.
This is pure athleticism at its best. The strength, balance and endurance these athletes show is amazing(not to be confused with Mathletes). The men's group make a cool totem pole, which I will admit is better than mine. And in the womens group theres loads of cool displays of balance (around 7:15 is my favourite). What can I say, I tought them everything I know. In the words of someone else, on some other site :
"It's always been my unrealistic fantasy to have sex with a gymnast. Now it's my truly unrealistic fantasy to have sex with three gymnasts. Fuck you guys."
I'd have to agree with him. Enjoy the video, but not too much....don't go blind or anythin'.

(on a completely unrelated note, how dignified does this monkey look? It's a rhetorical question, I don't want any answers.)

Flagrant Advertising

Recently I found a really cool blog called Dark Roasted Blend. As its own motto says, it is a collection of "All Sorts of Weird and Wonderful Things". Basically, it has collections of really cool photographs on (what I think) are some really interesting subjects. For instance, the pictures shown here are taken from one of Dark Roasted Blend's posts about creative advertisements. There are lots more advertisements which can be seen at this page, and theres 5 more pages of them if you look around the site. But cool advertisements are just one of an array of subjects covered on the site. There is a very wide variety of picture sets, but nearly all of them are interesting. Some of the good ones are Moscow: Futuristic Concepts from 1900, Strange Towers of the Third Reich and The Most Dangerous Roads in the World.

I seriously recommend you check out the site, it's just so good!

Meddling Magicians

Uri Gellar, Psychic? or kick in the nuts? The latter would explain my feelings towards Uri Gellar. I don't believe him for a second, he's fooled (metaphorically kicked everyone in the nuts, male and female alike) everyone into thinking that he has mystical powers. And so, i was happy to see people debunking his abilities. James Randi was a magician in the 70's who did just that. In the clip, you can see a bit (roughly 6 minutes into it) where Johnny Carson (a former magician himself) tears Gellar apart and humiliates him on national T.V, however, this did not stop Gellars fame (I wish it had though).

Like Johnny Carson, James Randi is a legend, he is a magician who shows everyone that pyschics are just like you and me, they dont have powers, just tricks, but they would like to fool you into thinking they do. Go on youtube and just search for James Randi.
Gellar is simply a successful con artist, magicians don't pretend to have powers, they admit that they have tricks but they dont want you to know the secrets to them. Thats fine with me, I like trying to figure it out (often failing with some of the more amazing magicians), but Gellar plugs himself as a psychic which is just crazily stupid. Gellar is successful in fooling lots of people, and his Flagrant disregard for the opinions of those who debunk his "powers".

You are famous for bending spoons, how will you ever top yourself? Get a real job Gellar.

Eh, ain't that a bit racialist?

Someone with a bit of a hatred for our celtic land left this interesting comment on the "Flagralicious Movies" post!
FUCK YOU FILTHY PADDY MICKS I HATE EVERYONE OF YOU FUCKERS GO BACK TO FUCKING IRELAND STAY AWAY FROM ME TELL YOUR WORTHLESS CUNTS TO ALSO STAY AWAY I WILL BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF EVERYONE OF YOU FUCKERS

PUNJABI PRIDE
Are there really that many annoying Irish people in the Punjab?

*edit* I just checked and that dude is from New York. Maybe he's angry because gays and lesbians aren't allowed to march in the St Patricks Day parade?

Flagralicious Movies

Even though I've already posted about online streaming movie sites, tonight I found something extra special. Its called Movie6.net and it has loads of movies. The reason it is special is because the movies that are hosted by the site have really good picture quality. Not all the movies are hosted on the site however, and I've only checked a handful. But tonight I watched Full Metal Jacket and it was 2 hours of flagrance.

I don't know exactly what you're supposed to have to watch the videos, but for me they played through the DivX video player, and I used the Firefox browser. So if you have problems you can try those out.

http://movie6.net/movies/. Enjoy.

Google Your Music More Easily

A few weeks ago I posted about googling music using this code to search:
-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(wma|mp3) "Nirvana"
Well, I just found a site which uses the same method but simplifies it for you. The site is at www.findthatmp3.com, you can also search for videos, ebooks and files.

The reason you may consider using it is that if you are the type of person who gets paranoid about being sued for copyright infringement, this is by far the safest way to download music. Check it out.

Crazy Canadians

For most people, Canada is thought of as a "lovely" country. And as if the place wasn't cool enough, they've gone and made a $1 million coin. The coin wieghs a hefty(fat) 220.5 pounds and is 21 inches in diameter. These highly stylish handcrafted coins will be produced in extremely limited quantities. Also, the coin's gold is 99.999% pure which makes the gold itself worth twice as much as the $1 million dollar price tag. So if you bought the coin and melted it down, youve gone and doubled your investment.

This is a great idea, people have always been fumbling around with small change, its time to bring in the big money. With a coin the size of a wagonwheel, you're never goin to missplace it. This is a positively Flagrant investment, get yours before stocks run out!

Sweet Sierra

Sierra have given us some seriously good games in the past like the Empire Earth series, F.E.A.R and Scarface to name a few. This is their most recent creation, and it looks sweet! Its called Timeshift, The clip tells you pretty much everything about it, so i cant wait for it to come out. Yes, F.E.A.R has the same type of in game time control, but it doesnt have Michael Ironside and Dennis Quaid doing the voice acting. Now, not only can I use my special powers in the real world, i can also use them in the gaming world. And just so you know, I've also got X-ray vision to see through clothes.

Calamity James

The only thing missing from the following video is some David "Calamity" James goalkeeping. Its hilarious footballing clips, and one of my favourite ever songs.

Apologies for the sausage!

Flagrant Censorship

The idea censorship can be a controversial subject. Used by the conservative as a means of protecting innocent minds; the stereotype goes that, as students, it should offend our liberal sensibilities. But what if we reversed the idea of censorship, and rather than hide the bad things, we use it to create offense and vulgarity where there was none before. I think it would be ingenius because it would please neither the conservative or liberal, but create laughs for the flagrant like you and me.

Click to play:

P.S. FUCK YOUTUBE! They remove one of their own 'director' movies?!

Bower Birds.

Bower Birds are cool.....really cool. They set an example for all males when trying to seduce females. They practically invented the idea of the "Batchelor Pad".
To attract mates, Bower birds build incredibly complex nests (called Bowers) which are adorned with flowers, fruit, nuts and beetle shells for decoration. Instead of using bright colours which most of the paradise birds are born with, Bower Birds opt for being creative about things and so they design and decorate perfect living conditions for themelves. They are obsessive about how their bowers look, and if you mess up their bower by say, putting flower petals that are a different colour in the bower, they will immediately fix things back to the way they were. These birds are tidy, and they like to co-ordinate everything. If they believe that females would prefer pink flowers to blue, they will decorate the bower with only pink flowers. Even objects of the same colour are used to decorate the nest, like pebbles, plastic or glass. Its all about their personal choice.

Now that is flagrant living. Check out this clip from David Attenborough.
Unfortunately embedding ths video isn't alowed, so heres the URL:

Stop putting shit on our bodies David Blaine!

I know this is a really popular video on youtube but I only found it the other day, so maybe some of you haven't seen it either. I think its a pretty funny impression of David Blaine.

and the sequel:

More Beatboxing Flagrancy

Even though I have already posted about this guy, it wasn't enough. At the time of my last post I didn't realise that the guy in the video is the current UK beatboxing champion. His name is "Beardyman" (as he used to have a beard) and he sometimes joins up with an MC and together they are "The Gobfathers". He has been on the BBC show "When Will I Be Famous" and some channel 4 documentary.

Even though this video doesn't show his ridiculously flagrant beatboxing skills (such as doing accurate reverses, and singing and beatboxing at same time), it shows the humour he always puts into his routines which is what I like so much.

Search "beardyman" in youtube and you'll get some other videos, but definitely visit his cool website. For a perfect example of just how good he is, go to this page and listen to "Tim Shaw Audio". It is amazing.

Flagrant Beatbox Entertainment

I found this video on a site called The Fame Game. It seems to be an interesting site where people upload videos of themselves performing various talents, and cash awards are given out to the best videos every month.

I haven't looked around the site much yet. But I found this and thought it was cool:

Flagrant Fans.

This is fan dedication at its best. The guy who made this is a belgian Star Wars fan and a member of the 501st Legion, an international community of Star Wars fans who are connected by the internet, they do charity functions and other events to help out where they can if you ask them and in my opinion I think that they are a bunch of nerds, but nerds that I absolutely respect. They are the people who go to a Star Wars movies wearing a stormtroopers outfit, and people hurl abuse at them for being nerds, but they just wash it off and keep doing the same thing because it's what they love and who are we to criticise them.

Damn.....I just went on a bit of a rant there, well, sorry, but its so needless when people find it ok to make others feel like shit just because they dont like or understand the other persons hobby.

I will not lie to you, I have been visiting the 501st website for months, ive read about the events that they help out in and how members meet up with everyone in their region whatever country they are in.

Well i got totally side tracked there, I was just supposed to talk about the hot air baloon. The idea of making a vader's helmet into a hot air balloon was just a passing thought by region leader Nicolas Lelong TK-2054 (oh yeh, they have numbers), but Benoît Lambert delighted at the idea, and wanted to display his creativity and knowledge of hot air balloons.

This is incredibly impressive, he designed and funded the creation of the balloon by himself and then sent it to Cameron, the worlds largest manufacturer it out of his own pocket, he even asked for permission from LucasArts (like it mattered). Anyway, theres no video footage of the Vader balloon, maybe some other time.

Flagrant Dribbling

Barcelona's Argentinian player Lionel Messi has had a lot of hype surrounding him over the last 18 months. Even though hes still only 19, there has been lots of talk about how he is destined to be a great player, and how he could be the next Maradona. Infact, even Maradona himself made that claim.

In the last 12 months he's had a fair amount of injury problems, and I didn't hear much about him, he kinda disappeared off the radar. I figured that maybe he wasn't all that he had been cracked up to be, as happens a lot with football players. Then, last month, he was back in the news again after the brilliant game between real madrid and barcelona which finished 3-3 with Messi getting a hat-trick.

Last night Barcelona were playing Getafe in the Spanish domestic cup, and Messi scored a goal of such ridiculous flagrance that it has led to a bizarre number of Messi/Maradona comparisons being uploaded to youtube. Can you figure out why?

Maradona (vs England)

Messi (vs Getafe)

By the way, youtube sucks so much now! They remove so much content but it still appears in the search results, how retarded...

Flagrant Graffiti

MaidI hate graffiti. If you are in the business of tagging walls then you are, unfortunately, an inbred scumbag. Its a good thing I'm not in charge because there would be a good few lashings in Stephens Green for that particular crime.

I'll admit though, my mind would be changed if all graffiti was of the flagrant quality of that done by "Banksy" in England. This guy is very good. He uses stencils to spray these cool and unique pictures. Despite the guff political messages behind his art, theres no denying they look really cool. Most of his work can be seen around Bristol and London. In the last couple years he has started selling some of his art and it has been going for a lot of money.

According to Wikipedia
In February 2007, the owners of a house with a Banksy mural on the side in Bristol decided to sell the house through an art gallery after offers fell through because the prospective buyers wanted to remove the mural. It is listed as a mural which comes with a house attached.
If you like the look of this guys work, you can see more at his site: www.banksy.co.uk

Engrish

Isn't it fun and flagrant to laugh at foreign people trying to speak english? Yeh it is! And nobody speaks funnier english than Asian people. That's why one of my favourite websites is www.engrish.com. Its basically just a site with pictures of signs and products, mostly from Asia, which have unintentionally hilarious Engrish transrations. See for yourself!

Flagrant Flushing.

I'm not sure whether the story that goes with this video is true, but apparently and radio DJ asked his listeners to all flush their toilets at the same time. Even if thats not the truth, it does'nt take away the coolness of a sewer erupting on a fairly busy motorway. I would hate to be the guy who got stuck in the video, not only is there damage to his car, but he and his car got completely swamped in sewage....Twice!

Fighting Footballers

Stevie G's tackle is quite horrendous! Also, Adrianos double punch (very start) is extremely flagrant and I love it. The very last punch in the video is just dirty and mean.

Football Compilations

Continuing on the theme of footballing flagrancy, here are a couple of football compilations I found. I decided to post them because they're a little bit different to the usual youtube fare. The first one is a compilation called "The Art of Defense", the second one is of brillaint teamwork goals. Check them out they are good, shame about the robbie williams music though.

Double entendre?

JokerThis comic book panel is supposedly from a more innocent age when the writer was unaware of what other meaning the word "boner" would take on in the future. I'm not sure if I believe that or not, but the fact that it was published is fucking hilarious.

I wonder what gadget Batman has on his batbelt to deal with the Jokers boners...

buttstrokeI found these pictures in an article called the "Top 15 Unintentionally Funny Comic Book Panels". Check the rest of them out here.

Do Your Dance

This blog has been running for just over a month and by now some of you are probably thinking "How do David and Barra manage to stay so flagralicious all the time? Well the answer is simple, we were born in the 1980's.

For me it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what I feel about the 80's. It's quite the paradox, on the one hand there was Don Johnson, Pac Man, The Karate Kid, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Rubik's Cubes, but on the other hand there was (that fucking cock) Boy George, and Bono's hair. I think possibly the paradox can be explained by saying that the 1980's in the U.S was good, but in the UK and Ireland it was bad, very bad.

The only thing I can say for sure though is that the 80's was a period of over-the-top, never-say-die flagrancy. Although sometimes the power of flagrancy was used by dark forces (Pet Shop Boys), it was certainly not all bad. And playing on radio stations when Barra and myself came into this world was one of the finest examples you'll ever find of positive flagrancy: "Word Up!" by Cameo.

Cameo are my idols and Word Up! is their synthesized masterpiece. I mean come on, the guy wears a red codpiece for fuck sake! It's ridiculous!

I realised this blog would not be fulfilling its duty without a tribute to Cameo. So put on your codpiece, sit back, and enjoy...

Now that my tribute is over, I also want to show you a rather good site I found. If, like me, you like to hear different covers of songs, then check out The Covers Project. It contains covers of a pretty wide range of songs. The covers seem to be done by proper musicians/bands so its not karaoke stuff. There's not a whole lot of songs on it just now, but the site still describes itself as a beta version so it will probably grow in future. Keep an eye on it.

To get you started, you can check out the rather good cover of Word Up by Willis by clicking this link. Hope you enjoy it.

Flagrant Firepower.

Thats right people, Miniature Warfare has arrived! A man named David Manson has finally done it, he has created a toy thats really worth owning. It's a 2.5 scale Sherman Tank that works perfectly. It can even fire paintball shells (or if thats restricted in your area, infrared lazers could be used, but they are not half as cool as paintballs). Click Here to find out how to build one for yourself. David Manson has various clips showing you how to do it.

This could be one of the coolest toys ever if it had similar tanks to fight against in an open field. Mini-Tank paintballing is the new paintballing. Take that you lousy Pacifists!

Flagitious Family.

You may have heard of the journalist/documentary maker Louis Theroux from his old show 'Wierd Weekends" where he spent some time with various groups in american subcultures like Nazi Skinheads, Pornstars, Swingers and many more. His most recent documentary is probably the best because he trys to find out more about the Westboro Baptist Church. A very controversial group of christians who protest at the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq. (IED's are 'Improvised Explosive Devices')

Don't let that Lickabletypes ad throw you at the start, I'm not trying to fool you into watching porn, however, I wouldnt be upset if someone tricked me into watching porn.....wait, getting sidetracked again. This documentary is titled "The Most Hated Family In America", it's really good, Louis Theroux always has interesting shows.

Westboro Baptist Church Wiki will tell you more about this strange cult if you want to know more. The video that I have posted is only the first ten minutes of the documentary, but it gives you a strong taste of how strange these people are and it shows you thier Flagrant disregard for human decency and moral fibre. I could go on an entire rant about this, seriously, I dislike religion, all religions but I'm not going to bore you with what I think at the moment, just watch the documentary and think for yourself. I'm tired of making your decisions for you, goddamn, you never know when to quit do you?! Now if you don't mind I'm going to listen to some christian rock while I watch some BBW. (google it in images)

You've seen it, you can't unsee it.
While you are at it, google Flagitious because you probably don't know what it means......I didnt.

Anyway, Here is where you can watch the rest of the documentary.

UPDATE: Well,I'm and idiot, i spent all this time making this post, connecting all the links externally, but what I didn't do was check my other friends blogs. Mullane recently posted about the exact same topic. I would take this down, but it took too long to make and Mullane's video doesn't work at the moment, but mine is running so check it out.

Flagrant Photograghy.

I know what you are thinking, thats just another insignificant X-ray photo right?....... Wrong, I dont post just any crap on this site, I post important crap that you need to know about.
Anyway, i got a little side tracked, this isn't just any X-ray photo, it's the first X-ray photo. It was taken by Nobel Prize winner Wilhelm Konrad Roentgen. The hand in the photo is his wife's hand (hence the ring), in absolute Flagrant fashion, Wilhelm had enough sense not to use his own hands in case he damaged them, instead he used his wife for experimenting on, Old Wilhelm knows exactly how to impress the ladies. The photo itself was taken in 1896, and was a major leap for medical technology because it allowed doctors to see inside the human body without surgical intervention.

If you want to know more go to this site Worlds Famous Photos....or not, I don't really care what you do with your time, is it really that valuable? You know what? Just forget it ok? You never know when to quit do you?
